What Shopify Plus is
Shopify Plus is the enterprise version of Shopify. It uses the same platform and admin as the other plans, but unlocks features designed for large or fast-growing brands, with more capacity and more room to customise.
For a brand coming from Adobe Commerce (Magento), a custom build or a heavily customised PrestaShop, Shopify Plus is usually the natural destination: it keeps the flexibility the brand needs and removes server and version maintenance.
What it includes compared with the standard plans
The difference isn’t in the basics, which are the same on every plan, but in what a more complex operation needs.
- Customisable checkout with extensions and Shopify Functions for custom discounts, shipping and payments.
- Native B2B: catalogues, prices and payment terms per business customer in the same store.
- Additional stores for other markets or brands.
- Advanced automation with Shopify Flow and campaign scheduling.
- POS Pro included for up to 20 locations.
- Lower payment fees and higher API capacity for integrations.
- Priority support.
What Shopify Plus costs
According to Shopify’s pricing page, the Plus plan starts at 2,300 dollars a month. For high volumes, the fee is based on sales, so the final price depends on the contract.
On top of the fee come payment fees (lower on Shopify Payments than on the other plans), apps and the team that designs, builds and maintains the store. What usually disappears is the cost of servers, upgrades and security patches.
That is why the right comparison isn’t fee against fee, but total cost over three years against the current platform.
When it pays off
In our experience, Shopify Plus pays off in these cases. If none of them applies, a standard Shopify plan is usually enough.
- Sales volume means the difference in fees covers much of the subscription.
- The brand sells to businesses and wants B2B on the same platform.
- There are several markets or brands to run as separate stores.
- The checkout needs its own logic: custom discounts, shipping or payments.
- The current platform consumes too much in maintenance.
What we have seen when migrating
Webimpacto is a Shopify Partner and has launched more Shopify Plus stores in 2025 and in the first half of 2026. At Footdistrict, after migrating from Adobe Commerce, revenue grew by 14% and returning customers by 28%.
At Misako, the annual maintenance cost fell by 80% and opening a new market went from about 30 days to 3 or 4. These are the two effects we see most: more time and budget for selling, and less for maintaining.
